Located on a thirty-five acre working horse farm, the Bath House and Pool Pavilion complement a site master plan by Stephen Stimson Associates. As the existing house and barns will eventually undergo significant renovation, the structures offered the opportunity to establish an aesthetic and stylistic direction for the site. Characterized by simple forms, clean lines and a restrained palette of rich materials, the structures are anchored to the low bluestone wall at the base of a series of lawn terraces.
A band of teak windows between the bluestone base and slate roof of the Bath House allows natural light to filter into the interior spaces, which include changing rooms, bathroom and prep kitchen. Contrasting the solid, grounded Bath House, the adjoining Pavilion is open on all sides providing living, dining and kitchen spaces for the pool terrace.
